What does a card cost?

Every card is £3.69, whoever designed it. Postage is charged separately, per envelope, and depends on the service you choose and how many cards are going to that address on that day.

How does the multi-card discount work?

Accepted Answer

If you buy more than one card in an order, every card after the first is 10% off. There is no limit: the more you buy, the more of them are discounted.

The first card is £3.69 and every one after it is £3.32. Ten cards comes to £33.57 instead of £36.90, a saving of £3.33. Twenty cards saves £7.03.

If you are also using a free 10 Club card, the free one comes off first and the discount applies to what is left.

What is the 10 Club and how do stamps work?

Every card you buy earns a stamp. After 9 stamps your next card is free, so it is 10 cards for the price of 9. The free card is applied at checkout automatically. There is no code to enter.

Stamps belong to your account, have no cash value, and are removed if an order is refunded in full.

Can I buy without an account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can buy as a guest with just an email address and a delivery address. You will get a confirmation email and a tracking link that works without signing in.

What a guest does not get is an order history, saved addresses, scheduled sends, reminders or 10 Club stamps, because all of those need somewhere to live.

What happens to my order if I make an account afterwards?

It gets attached to the account, along with the stamps it earned. That happens once, when the account is first created and your email address is verified, which is the first time you click a sign-in link or sign in with Google using the same address you ordered with.

It has to be the same address. An account made with a different email will not find the order, and the attachment only runs at sign-up rather than at every later login, so making the account is the moment that matters.

Which delivery services can I choose?

Four, all Royal Mail: 2nd Class, 1st Class, Express, which is Royal Mail Tracked 24, and Special Delivery by 1pm, which is Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed. You choose per shipment at checkout. Eight cards or more to one address go tracked: Tracked 48 on 2nd Class, and Express in place of 1st Class.

2nd Class: £1.10 for one card, £1.90 for two or three, £2.30 for four to seven, £4.40 for eight or more, which go Tracked 48, 2 to 4 working days and tracked. Estimated 3 to 6 working days. Not tracked below eight cards.

1st Class: £2.20 for one card, £4.00 for two or three, £4.35 for four to seven. Eight or more go Express. Estimated 1 to 4 working days. Not tracked.

Express (Royal Mail Tracked 24): £4.60 for one to seven cards, £5.60 for eight or more. Estimated 1 to 2 working days. Tracked, with the tracking number in your "in the post" email.

Special Delivery by 1pm (Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed, tracked): £11.35 for one to three cards, £12.55 for four to seven, £18.55 for eight or more. Paid by 2pm on a working day, it arrives the next working day by 1pm, guaranteed by Royal Mail. Tracked, with the tracking number in your "in the post" email.

How is postage worked out?

Per envelope, not per card. An envelope is one destination on one print date, so cards going to the same person on the same day travel together and are charged once, at the price band for however many are in it.

The bands are one card, two to three, four to seven, and eight or more. Adding a second card to an envelope always costs less than posting it separately.

Question 8

Why am I being charged twice for cards going to the same person?

Because they are going on different days. If you have scheduled one card to your mum for March and another for December, those are two envelopes posted nine months apart, so there are two lots of postage.

Two cards to the same person arriving on the same day are one envelope and one postage charge. You will see each envelope listed separately in your basket before you pay.

When will my card arrive?

It depends on the service. We estimate 3 to 6 working days for 2nd Class, 1 to 4 for 1st Class and 1 to 2 for Express, counted from the day we post it. Special Delivery arrives the next working day by 1pm, guaranteed by Royal Mail. Eight cards or more to one address go tracked, which is quicker: see postage above.

Apart from Special Delivery, those are estimates, a working day longer than Royal Mail's own, and not a guarantee. Working days exclude weekends and bank holidays. We show you an estimated arrival window at checkout and again in your confirmation email.

Do you deliver outside the UK?

No. We deliver to UK addresses only.

Is my card tracked?

Accepted Answer

Express and Special Delivery are always tracked, and 2nd Class is tracked when eight or more cards go to one address (Tracked 48). When a tracked envelope is posted, your "in the post" email carries its tracking number and a link to Royal Mail's tracking page. Other envelopes are not tracked, which means neither we nor Royal Mail can tell you where the card is once it has been posted.

Every order has its own page, under Follow your order, showing what we have done: when it was printed and when it went in the post. Once a tracked envelope is posted, its Royal Mail tracking number is on that page too. On an untracked service that is where our visibility ends too.

Question 12

When is my card printed?

We print every working day at 14:00. If you pay before 14:00 on a working day it is printed that day. If you pay after that, or at a weekend or on a bank holiday, it is printed on the next working day.

Your confirmation email tells you which day, and we post it the same day it is printed.

Question 13

Why does my order appear as two orders?

Accepted Answer

Because the cards in it are printing on different days. An order carries one print date, so a basket with a birthday card for March and a Christmas card becomes two orders, each with its own date.

You paid once and you get one receipt covering the whole payment, grouped by when each part goes out. You will see them as separate orders in your account, because they are printed, posted and tracked separately.

Can I have a card arrive on a particular day?

Yes. Choose the date you want it to arrive and we work backwards from it, using the slow end of Royal Mail's estimate for the service you picked, so it should reach them before the day rather than on it.

You pay when you order, not when we print. We hold the card and print it near the date.

Question 15

How far ahead can I schedule?

Up to 18 months. Anything further ahead than that is refused at checkout.

Question 16

Can I cancel an order?

Accepted Answer

Yes, from your account, at any time before the card has been claimed for printing. For a scheduled send that can be weeks or months.

Cancelling stops the card being printed straight away, and the refund is sent back to the card you paid with as soon as you confirm. It usually shows on your statement within 5 to 10 days, and always within 14 days; your bank may take a day or two more to show it. If you cancel and do not see the money, tell us and we will chase it.

When can I no longer cancel?

Once the card has been claimed for a print batch. At that point it is on the bench and the button is gone.

If you need to stop something after that, get in touch rather than assuming it is too late. We would rather hear from you early.

Question 18

Can I return a card I have received?

Accepted Answer

It depends on whether it was personalised.

A card with a message printed inside is personalised and made for you, so under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 there is no right to cancel it once it has been made.

A card with nothing printed inside is not personalised. You can cancel within 14 days of receiving it and return it to us, unused, at your own cost, for a refund of the card price.

There is no button for this. Get in touch through the contact form and a person will reply with where to send it.

My card arrived damaged, or never arrived

Report it through your account within 30 days, under Issues. Send a photo if you have one. A person reviews every report and decides what to put right, usually within two working days. Depending on what went wrong we will reprint and resend, or refund.

On an untracked service, please wait until six working days after the print day, or the end of your estimated arrival window, whichever is later, before reporting a card as missing, because until then it is still inside the delivery window.

How long do refunds take?

Refunds go back to the payment method you used, within 14 days of our decision. Your bank may take a day or two more to show it.

Question 21

Can you refuse to print my message?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if it is unlawful, threatening, or we reasonably believe it would cause serious offence to the person receiving it. If we do refuse, we will tell you and refund the order.

What can I print inside the card?

Accepted Answer

Your own message, printed inside the card before we post it. You choose the wording, the font, the colour and the alignment, and you can see it laid out before you pay.

What fonts can I choose?

Three: Formal, which is a serif, Relaxed, which is a rounded sans serif, and Fun, which is a typewriter face. You can also set the text colour and the alignment.

Can I leave the inside blank?

Yes. Leave the message empty and the card is posted blank for you to write in by hand.

This also changes your cancellation rights, in your favour: a blank card is not personalised, so it can be returned within 14 days of arriving. See the question on returns.

Can I see the card before it prints?

Yes. The basket shows your message laid out inside the card as it will be printed, in the font, colour and alignment you have chosen. What you see there is what goes to the press.

What is Set & Forget?

An address book with dates attached. You save the people you send cards to, along with their addresses and the dates that matter, and we remind you in time to do something about it.

When will you remind me?

By default, 30 days, 14 days, 7 days and 2 days before the date. You can change that per event, or turn reminders off entirely and keep the dates.

Reminders come by email, once a day at most, listing every date that has crossed one of those marks.

Can I buy a card straight from a reminder?

Yes. The reminder links to the event, and buying from there carries the person, the address and the date through to the basket, so the card is scheduled to arrive in time without you working out the posting date.

What to do when a search does not find the card you want. Describe it: you do not need an account, or even an email address.

We keep looking for you as new cards arrive, and our card designers see what people are asking for, so the card you want may be one they make for it. They see a tidied version of what you wrote, without your name or anything that identifies you, so leave names out.

What does it cost to ask?

Nothing, and you are under no obligation. If a card you like arrives you buy it at the usual £3.69, and if not, you do not.

Will you tell me when a card arrives?

Accepted Answer

If you ask us to, yes: signed in, tick the box; without an account, leave your email address and click the link we send to it. We email you when cards that match arrive, with the cards in the email, and only cards that match. If nothing has arrived after a week, we send one short note to say we are still looking, with no cards in it.

Only when there's news about your request, and never more than one email a day, however many requests you have. You can change your email preferences at any time. Without an account, the only email sent to your address before you click that link is the one with the link in it, and if it is not clicked within 7 days we remove the address. Your request is still saved and counted either way.

How long do you keep looking?

For 60 days. You can add a detail, turn the emails on, or stop any request under Card requests in your account; without an account, sign in with the address you gave and your requests will be there.

What if no card ever arrives?

Then the request ends quietly after 60 days. Nobody is commissioned to make a card for you, so there is nothing to pay or cancel.

Are the designs original?

Yes. Every design is the work of an independent creator who uploaded it here, and they earn a commission on every card of theirs that sells.

How do I become a creator?

Apply through the Become a creator page, telling us about your work and linking some examples. We reply to say we have it, then a person reviews the application.

If you are approved you get a welcome email, and you can upload from that point. You will also need to complete Stripe's identity checks and give bank details before you can be paid.

How many designs can I upload?

50 to start with. The cap rises as you sell, and you can ask us for more at any point if you have a reason.

Cards you buy yourself earn you commission but do not count towards these figures.

What commission do I earn?

An industry-leading rate on every card you sell. The rate is in the creator terms you accept when you are approved, and every sale shows on your dashboard with what it earned you.

Approved before 1 April 2027? You are a founding creator, and you keep your launch rate for good.

Question 41

What is the commission calculated on?

Accepted Answer

The list price of the card, before any multi-card discount the customer received and excluding postage. A discounted card earns you the same as a full-price one.

Cards redeemed with 10 Club stamps count too. The customer paid nothing, but you designed it and we printed it.

Question 42

When am I paid?

Accepted Answer

Sales made in a calendar month become available on the 1st of the following month. On the 1st we pay your available balance if it is £10 or more.

Payment goes through Stripe to the bank details you gave when you were approved, and every payment comes with a statement listing the cards sold and the rate applied to each.

Why have I not been paid this month?

Accepted Answer

Most likely your balance was under £10, in which case it rolls over and is paid the first month it clears that mark. Nothing is lost.

The other possibility is that Stripe has not finished verifying you, or has paused payouts on your account. Your earnings page shows which.

What happens if a card I designed is refunded?

Accepted Answer

A card refunded in full does not earn commission, and neither do cards on cancelled orders.

If the refund happens after you have already been paid for that sale, it is deducted from your next payment rather than asked for back.

Question 45

Do you use my artwork to train AI models?

Accepted Answer

No. Your data, images and artwork are never used by us to train AI models. It is the first thing the creator terms say, because it is the first thing worth knowing.

We do use AI tools to write the listing around your design: the title, description, categories and search terms that help customers find it. That runs through OpenAI's API, whose stated policy is that data sent through it is not used to train their models. The artwork itself is yours and stays that way.

Who owns my designs?

You do. Uploading a design does not transfer ownership and you keep the copyright.

What we get is a licence to print and sell it, described in section 4 of the creator terms, and nothing beyond that. You can ask for a design to be removed.

Question 47

How does the board of what customers want work?

Accepted Answer

When a customer describes a card they could not find, it goes on the board in Creator Studio, grouped with everyone asking for the same kind of card and counted in people, beside how many cards the shop already has for it. You see a tidied version of what they asked for, never who they are.

Designing for it is up to you. Upload as usual: the card is reviewed and listed like any other and earns your usual rate. When it matches what someone asked for, we email them to say it is in the shop.
